Welcome to St John’s!

Hello and welcome to St John’s church, Neville’s Cross, Durham!  To find out more about who we are, what we believe, and what goes on in our church life and community, just click on the links above. (“About Us” is a pretty good place to start!)

Details about how to contact us, or find the church, are here (and at the bottom of every page).  Please do get in touch with any enquiries.

A quick note to say that this website is in the process of being updated, so if any information is out of date, or links don’t quite work, our apologies – we’re working on that!

Let’s stick to ‘No room at the inn’ and leave out ‘Have you tried the internet?’

Don’t miss our all-age Cafe Church Nativity this Sunday!  Come as you are – or in festive fancy dress – and join us for breakfast, activities, music, discussion, prayer and drama as we look at and retell the Christmas story.

And as we continue in this season of Advent, a number of other Christmas events are on our horizon …

Our Open Door Christmas Special is being held  on Wednesday 19th December, with mulled wine, mince pies, and festive music from our fabulous pianist George!  Meanwhile, if that date or time doesn’t suit – or you just can’t get enough of mince pies and music, there are community carols on Tuesday 18th December.  See here for more details.  Again, all are welcome!

Christmas Services at St John’s

There will also be a number of different services at St John’s, across the Christmas period.  These include our Cafe Church Nativity service, for all ages, at 10:30am on Sunday 16th December.  (You can find out more about Cafe Church here.)

We shall have a Messy Christingle service on Sunday 23rd December, from 4pm-6pm.  Again, this is for all ages, with crafts, carols and candlelight and Christmas food to share. We always enjoy welcoming lots of families from the local community to this service.

On Christmas Eve you can join us for our carol service at 7:30pm, and we meet together to celebrate Christmas Day at 10am.  Hope to see you there!
